Beau Torres: When Things Come Together

Beau Torres is a photo-based artist living and working in New York. His main interests lie in apophenia and the everyday. The work he makes is concerned with New New Photography, a dialect of photography situated at the intersection of still-life tradition, sculpture, and online culture. Within his studio practice he creates a visual language juxtaposing genuine sentiments with throwaway objects/phrases to both critique and embrace a societal mindset of cynicism and irony.

When Things Come Together: When Things Come Together” is a collection of photographs made in Atlanta and New York City, sitting in between the old and the new. Using the traditional language of 35mm street photography, my aim is to create straight photographic imagery in conversation with the collage aesthetic prominent in contemporary Internet culture.
